So impressed with this shoe! a Must Buy at $20!
Bought a pair of these last minute before tackling a couple day hikes in NorCal, all I brought with me were trainers, (didn't expect to have time to do so much hiking) I wanted something with a little better grip and didn't want to damage my Nikes. Wow did these ever live up to the task. First week I had them I tackled 8 miles of rocky terrain including some snow on Lassen Peak / Bumpass area, hiked another 6-10 miles of forest in Redwood Ntn'l, took a six mile hike into Jedediah Smith, and tackled a few creek beds with more to come in the next few days. these shoes have been perfectly comfortable, secure, durable, and have excellent grip in any condition I've thrown at them. Testing them out I was able to stand on one foot on the side of a slick rock face at a very steep angle without slipping, remarkable. I would put these toe-to-toe (no pun) with any high end hiker, especially at this price. One thing to be aware of: The eyelets for the laces seem like they may end up being a weak point if you're overly abusive to them, my guess is just be fairly gentle when lacing them tightly and they should hold up fine. Cheers!Thomas
Sole peeled off in a single hike
Bought this shoe at walmart before a week. I have had good experiences in general with new brands introduced at walmart. I went through the reviews at the old walmart site and bought the shoe based on many 5 star reviews this shoe had. However, the sole of the shoe peeled off in a single hike; pic attached. I expected it to last a month based on the low pricing. Hikers stay away. Walmart did not accept return; I dont complain given the low price but I will appreciate if they take this feedback and launch better quality brands in future at a affordable price.Viki
Best 20 dollar hiking shoe
They cost 20 dollars however, it is the best 20 shoe ever. Now you may get a lemon here and there, as the rating will substantiate, but Walmart will replace them if you do. When you buy them, check out the stitching and the weld on the soles and edges. You need to mod out the laces with 550 cord. The ones provided are adequate as laces, but if they are to be a true hiking shoe, well then. Besides, the laces provided are way too long for the shoe and you'll end up cutting them shorter. But you can still use them for something, so don't throw them away. Ive got the more expensive hikers and these are my go to's, in nearly every case. Working on second pair now; no complaints. And they do come in an alternate color at the store, maybe not online. Seems the other color is darker though.RoadsScholar
Solid Outdoor Work Shoe Too!
Bought these as a work shoe for my job in a big box Garden Center just to get something...After 10 months the black rubber soles wore completely through at the heel, ball and toe while the rest of the shoe material inside and out was totally intact and ready for another 300 miles or so on cement. Nary a loose thread, frayed shoelace or major sole disintegration like I have had with expensive running shoes near the end of their life. Just a slow burn down. Hated to toss them but for the price simply bought another pair. Shoes breathe really well and have removable insoles so no odor through many wet/dry cycles. Did not experience any related foot discomfort over all those miles even compared to backup shoes costing 5x more. I wear thick socks as they are fairly stiff and not super padded but never had a blister, hot spot, etc. Just a great overall shoe that looks the part.WMsmiles
Men's Summer Hiking Shoe - BEST Value! - Period !!
THE Best Value in a Men's Summer Hiking Shoe!!
April 2017 - Needed to purchase an emergency replacement for a pair of Nike CrossTrainer that LITERALLY Disintegrated on only the second day of a week-long vacation trip. **Fortunately, my hotel was across from a nearby Walmart! **
Needed to buy this type of rugged shoe anyway for general summer wear - I no longer had a pair like this.
I was Pleasantly Shocked to find this Quality pair of low-cut hiking shoes for a Mere $20 at this Walmart store - Astounding!
I needed a pair of low cut, lightweight, breathable, comfortable hiking boots suitable for trail walking And long distance driving.
After Sizing Carefully for maximum toe-spread in athletic socks (Can't stand squished toes during walking), I found my best size for extended, comfortable walking.
I completed my vacation in walking-driving comfort, and still looked and performed new after using them on rocky terrain and on gravel.
At home, I'm now wearing them as my daily casual walkers for the warmer months of May to September!
Far Exceeded expectations for a Mere $20!
Buy with confidence! Size Carefully, as you Should - I'm just a happy customer as per review - not a Walmart affiliate or employee.TheFrugalGearhead
