I walk many miles
This is my third pair and I've abused them all beyond normal expectations. Inexpensive, comfortable boots that are easy to lace and easy to kick off. The steel toe is a bonus even though I haven't had an accident to test. I've had much more expensive boots that didn't offer anything more than these do.ByteM3
Good boots for the price
I've been wearing the Gus work boots for a number of years now. They hold up pretty well. I'm a auto dealership mechanic and always on my feet on concrete. I always put a good insole in these boots. I usually get close to a year out of a pair. I would only get 1.5 to maybe 2 years from the $150 to $200 boots I used to wear, so these boots save me money.8to6
for the price how can you go wrong?
I've been buying these since they came out.. I work in the Chemical industry and I'm exposing these things to all different types of chemicals hazardous and otherwise 24 7 365..
Where the others loose their soles, these hold up.
They are slip resistant and for the price of a pair I can get 10 pairs a year of these compared to the high end Red Wings, Justin, or Danner boots. And since they are so affordable, the warranty that the others never honoring my industry, doesn't matter.. I just buy another pair of these.
Not only are they comfortable all year long through all seasons, they also take well if you want to old school polish them to a nice mirror shine..
They em.. For 35 bucks, how can you go wrong?Frankr1966
Smart simple boot
The price is low and they are great knock around boots for everyday. I like the easy on and off feature because of the top four open quick lace eyelets. They are a little stiff till you get several hours of wear on. They look simple and smart!Rabbit
Perfect boots for work
I bought these boots to go on a work site. They are comfortable, sturdy, and look exactly as pictured! I would definitely recommend these boots for someone who works in them all day.Luv2KHer
Great work boot
I am currently still a high school student but am taking mechanics classes during the day time and I'm required to wear steel toe boots. These boots are exactly what I was looking for, comfortable enough to wear from 6 am to 5pm everyday and versatile enough to wear in the shop and out hiking trails. I will be purchasing these again and would definitely recommend to anybody looking to buy a decent work boot.GageJ
I bought these for my husband. He like them for the most part his only complaint is that they are very heavy.Ronimoh
good looking boots...
I'm still in the "breaking 'em in" phase with mine.....But so far, they fit really nice around my feet which is to say nice and roomy ....And still clean and sharp looking.....But yeah things are really positive ......nothing negative to report on these just yet......wildone
Over all, they are great boots. I am currently in the automotive Field and they have saved my feet countless times. They hold up and I can walk all day in them because they are unbelievably comfortable. The problems I faced with it are the shoelaces holding up for a couple of weeks due to them coming apart but I resolved that by buying the thinner laces. The original laces will require you to keep tightening them. Save your self the hassle and buy thin laces. The other problem I have had was the front of the shoes will scuff easily. Over the course of less than two weeks, the boots went from brand new to looking like they've been used for a year. The boots are not real leather but they will hold up even with the fake leather. I would definitely buy these again but in the future I'll save up for Red Wings. For someone looking to buy a spare pair of boots these are perfect. If you plan to do a lot of heavy work, I suggest you buy heavy duty bootsSam
New Version Cheapened!
I have been wearing this same make and model of work boot for over 12 years, and have always gotten more than my money's worth. They were tough, durable, and comfortable. They typically gave me about two years of use per pair, which is outstanding for the price. A couple of years ago, I experimented with a competing famous name brand of boots that cost twice as much, only to find that the famous brand boots ran small, and did not last any longer than the Walmart boots.
So, it was back to Walmart for yet another pair of these Brahma Gus boots. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!
THESE Gus boots are NOT THE SAME as the older boots!
First, Walmart NO LONGER OFFERS these in Wide Width. My feet are extra wide and I need the Wide Width. But you can't get Gus in Wide anymore. I decided to go ahead and take a chance on the medium width. BIG mistake! Sure, I can "manage" by wearing thin socks, but there is no room in the shoe for cushion (or odor destroying) insoles. Can you say "uncomfortable" in 5 languages?
Second, these are made of a much stiffer material than the previous Gus boots. The previous boots, after a couple of weeks' break-in period, were very comfortable. NOT THESE! I have worn these for just over a month, and there is no sign yet of them even beginning to be broken in!
Third, these boots are UNBEARABLY HOT! I used to be able to wear the older Brahma Gus boots for about ten hours before I had to take them off to allow my feet to cool. THESE, on the other hand, have to be taken off every four hours or less to let my feet cool. This is NOT GOOD.
Fourth, the collar now is padded with a cloth material (it used to be leather) and the soles are different. These so-called "improvements" actually make the boots LESS, not more, comfortable.
I suspect Walmart has made the changes I mentioned so they could make the boots at less manufacturing cost, rather than raise the price.
C'mon Walmart, why spoil a good thing??? Return the Brahma Gus boot to its old time-honored construction, offer Wide Width again, and raise the price!
The OLD Brahma Gus boots were easily equivalent to boots sold for twice as much elsewhere--but the NEW version is barely worth the paper they are written on!
Walmart should heed the old adage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"!
If I could give a "star" rating to the OLD and NEW versions of these boots separately, I would give the OLD version 5 stars--but the NEW version barely deserves 1 star--and that for the price, not the quality.
If Walmart takes my advice and returns to the old design--including offering Wide Width--I will be back. Failing that, I shall be forced to shop elsewhere (and, unfortunately, pay a higher price) for other, more comfortable, boots.HonestGuy3017
